Philosophers in the Midst of History: Anselm of Canterbury, The Church, and the Normans

This talk focuses on the interconnections between the medieval philosopher, theologian, bishop, and monk – Anselm of Canterbury – wider events going on within the Catholic Church, and the expansionist and dynastic politics of the Normans.

This is the second in a new series of quarterly lectures and discussions, focused on understanding philosophers within their historical context, hosted by the Frank Weyenberg Library (in Mequon, WI).
