A type of blackbird has been shown to modify its behavior to solve problems. The great-tailed grackle’s range has expanded north through Mexico and into the U.S. since the 1800s. An invasive species, this bird needs to be adaptable in order to deal with changing situations. New research shows how the grackle uses behavioral flexibility to untangle new puzzles.
